Tuesday Six – 9/20/11

The vibe of the week is stoner rock. With 2 killer shows this week (Borracho and Karma to Burn on 9/21 at Rock and Roll Hotel, and The Sword and Kyuss Lives at the 930 Club on 9/24), it is all about the low end. Sit back, fire it up and enjoy!

1. Kyuss – El Rodeo

A great tune off of their last album, …And The Circus Leaves Town, El Rodeo El Rodeo starts subdued and just gets heavier as it goes. Very underrated album.

2. Borracho – Concentric Circles

DC’s own has a new album out (the fantastic Splitting Sky) and is grinding out gig after gig in support of it. Definitely put this one on your list.

3. King Giant – Tale of Mathias

My favorite VA band of em all, KG’s new album Dismal Hollow is set for release in early 2012. Supporters of their latest video (for Appomattox) were treated to a 4 song sampler of new material, and Tale of Mathias is my favorite of the bunch. A harrowing tale of a woman that just didn’t take it anymore, this song will kick your ass. (sorry, no video yet)

4. Death Breath – Cthulhu Fhtagn!

Just discovered Death Breath today on Pandora. This is a heavy instrumental, and I can’t wait to hear more from these guys.

5. Karma to Burn – 34

I know I had KtoB on my Six last week, but I am so amped up to see them again I had to give you another one. The fact that most of their music is instrumental and is still THAT DAMN amazing, makes me wish more bands would just shut the fuck up once in a while. (This video is from their set at the 930 Club in December. Thanks to Chris from DC Heavy Metal for the vid!)

6. Orange Goblin – Scorpionica

Awesome tune from the U.K’s Orange Goblin. Still upset about missing them at MD Death Fest this year. Highly recommend these guys!
