Tuesday Six – 10/11/11

1. Auroboros – Precarious

Expect to hear a LOT more from Auroboros around the DC stoner rock scene in the near future. With blistering live sets, a chunk-heavy aggressive demo (available for free here), and an E.P. on he way, these guys are just getting started. Heads up.

2. Over the Rainbow – Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwoʻole

I know its a little off my beaten path, but this song is special to me. I lost a friend to cancer last weekend, and this was her wedding song. Anytime I hear this song i think of Liz and Richard and smile. Say hi to Dad for me, Lizzy. Miss you.

3. Chuck Ragan – Don’t Say A Word

With a stunning mix of folk, rock, and American roots, Chuck is really carving a name for himself. With deeply emotional lyrics, songs that make you move or grab hold of your heartstrings, and nonstop touring with the likes of Social D, Chuck is well worth your while to check out and see what you’ve been missing.

4. The Sword – Iron Swan

With an intro that brings to mind dancing girls in Conan the Barbarian’s tent, this song kicks in and just kicks your ass with brutal riffage.  Still reeling from their set opening for Kyuss Lives at the 930 Club.

5.  The Goddamned Gallows – Rag’z n Bones

Blending punk and rockabilly with a Southern Gothic twang, the Goddamned Gallows paint a dark, psychotic picture that is just damn fun. A lot of good things coming out of Farmageddon Records these days!

6. Cavalera Conspiracy – Warlord

Had to end this week on a brutal note. Loving everything I am hearing from their new album, Blunt Force Trauma. Don’t miss them tomorrow, 10/12 at the Rock and Roll Hotel on H St, with Otep and Earth Crisis supporting.
