Hank Williams, Sr. – Settin’ the Woods On Fire

A classic from Hank Sr. about a couple in love going out for a night of cruising, dancing and eating chili. What more does romance need? This song never fails to make me smile and sing along.

GWAR – A Gathering of Ghouls

From 2010’s Bloody Pit of Horror, this song is heavy as hell, and just crushes. While still maintaining the humorous aspects of their music, the music of GWAR kept getting heavier and more technical, starting with 2004’s War Party, and the reason was Cory Smoot. Better know as Flattus Maximus, Cory was insanely talented, and it showed in the music he created with GWAR. Cory passed away in 2011 from a pre-existing coronary artery disease, and out of respect, GWAR has retired the Flattus Maximus character.

Wrathchild America – Desert Grins

This is a band I worshipped in high school, and the one i would most like to see reunite. They were a band that was slightly ahead of their time, yet got lost in the shuffle of the emergence of grunge and didn;t weather the storm before metal really re-emerged. Many agree, they were a band that SHOULD have been huge. This is off of their 2nd album, 3-D, the one I consider their best.

Reverend Horton Heat – Suicide Doors

Off of the fantastic Lucky 7 album, this one’s a fun, rockin tune by The Rev, an ode to his beloved Lincoln Continental. One of the true kings of Psychobilly, you name it and they can do it. This song has it all: a fun, playful guitar riff, a classic moving bass line from Jimbo, and perfect rhythm drumming from Scott Churilla.

Queen – Fat Bottomed Girls

Queen’s tribute to big, lovely female derrieres. I definitely have been caught air-drumming to this one in the car – it does have some of the best drum fills ever recorded.

Foghat – I Just Want to Make Love to You

By far one of the groovinest classic rock songs ever. The intro builds up, until the main riff kicks in, then Lonesome Dave Peverett starts wailing, letting us know that he only has one thing on his mind. Foghat at its best right here.
