1. Slayer – Ghosts of War

We’re always hearing about the deaths of famous musicians, but it’s rare that the man behind the man is revered and remembered. This week we mourn the passing and celebrate the life of Armand Crump, the longtime guitar tech for Slayer. Armand kept Kerry King and his gear on point for years, and was extremely well-loved and respected in the metal community.
Rest in Peace, Armand. You will be missed.

Here’s a cool video of Kerry King, Dave Lombardo, Chuck Billy, some dude on bass and Armand Crump rehearsing Raining Blood for DimeBash 2010

Been on a big Social D kick lately. 1990’s self-titled album is one of my favorites by Social D, and is damn near perfect from start to finish.

3. Prong – Who’s Fist Is This Anyway?

I know that Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck was the big hit off of 1994’s Cleansing, but I always liked this song better. Good groove, and Tommy Victor’s trademark tight riffs.

4. Blind Guardian – Battlefield

A brutal track from 2006’s Rio Grande Blood, the main riff in the song is just heavy as hell (and not surprisingly, it’s Prong’s Tommy Victor again). This album was the 2nd in a trilogy of Anti-George W. Bush albums (have you ever hated someone so much that you had to record 3 albums to tell us that?) Political blahblah aside, this is a killer, heavy track.

6. AC/DC – Whole Lotta Rosie

A timeless classic dedicated to the buxom Rosie, this has been in my head since the weekend. Riding on the Road King, next to my buddy Bossy, who happens to have a wicked stereo system on his Harley. Nothing like cruising along with “SHE’S A WHOLE LOTTA WOMAN!” cranked up to 11. Great tunes, good times.
